minorCode 6-501.111Pests

Official wording

Insects & rodents not present; no unauthorized animals

Inspector’s notes

6-501.111; Core; Small flies present on barista line and in glass food display. The premises shall be maintained free of insects; rodents; and other pests. The presence of insects; rodents; and other pests shall be controlled to eliminate their presence on the premises by eliminating harborage conditions. Facility receives routine pest control through EcoLab and the last routine visit was conducted on 02/05/24. An additional visit was requested and EcoLab visited this past Monday (02/12/24) to address the persistent pest issue. EHS suspects the issue/harborage areas may be on the barista line due to the fact that no flies were observed in the back storage area or warewashing area. Countertops in some areas on the barista line have visible cracks and are absorbing milk/liquid; these areas are no longer smooth and easily cleanable. Food in display case was voluntarily discarded during the inspection and PIC agrees to keep this case empty until pest issues have been resolved.

In plain English

The inspector found mice, rats, cockroaches, flies, or evidence of them (like droppings) inside the business, or conditions that could attract them. Pests can spread bacteria to food and surfaces, so this is treated as one of the more serious findings.
