Official wording

Using a Handwashing Sink-Operation and Maintenance (Pf)

Inspector’s notes

During the inspection observed an employee dumping water from a mixing cup into the only hand sink in the location. There are no other sinks in the immediate vicinity and there is a drain built into the counter underneath the coffee brewers that the person in charge stated that the employees should be using to dump liquids. The health instructor directed the employees to clean and sanitize the hand sink and for the person in charge to give training on using hand sinks for hand washing only. Hand sinks should be used for hand washing only no dumping no filling.

In plain English

Staff were not washing their hands when required, or a handwashing sink was blocked, missing soap or paper towels, or used for something else. Hands are one of the most common ways germs reach food.
